The study of motion stability around the libration points L4 and L5 in the earth-moon system cannot be undertaken by the method of Breakwell and Pringle (1966), which assume a mu value smaller than 0.0121. The present study employs Malkin's (1952) theory for the critical cases of stability, reverting to the analysis of a system of differential equations having constant coefficients and involving nonlinear terms of the 3rd order.
