We consider direct tests of the existence of a relic sea of cosmic neutrinos produced in the "big bang" these tests involve energy splittings between the left- and right-handed helicity states of a spin- 1/2 target traversing the neutrino sea due to its weak interaction with it. Charged- and neutral-current interactions are examined for both the cases of ultrarelativistic and nonrelativistic neutrinos comprising the sea. An estimate of the difference between neutrino and antineutrino seas, which gives the effect, is given in the context of recent theories of baryon- and lepton-number generation in the big bang.
