Scientific paper

The paper considers the synthesis of a matched filter and of a filter with an optimal weight characteristic, with the aim of creating a local-vertical reference for a spaceborne infrared scanning system. It is shown that these filters, which localize the main peak of the signal, are effective in determining the angular position of the earth's center. In addition, they are technically simple, i.e., it is possible to construct efficient and reliable local-vertical references on their basis.
