Moon Surface: Scattering, Moon Surface: Methods Of Reduction
Scientific paper
The authors attempt to construct a model of light scattering by the lunar surface which is assumed to be extremely rough. An influence of slight geometrical perturbation of the rough surface on its photometric function is considered, and the effect of recurrence of such a perturbation is studied. Finally, when the perturbation degree tends to zero and recurrence number tends to ∞, this leads to a continuous process on the sphere described by the heat conduction equation with a free term. For the phases ranging up to 60° the theory is in good agreement with observational data everywhere, except in the boundary zone.
