We have shown that the magnetopause in the standard Lyon-Fedder-Mobarry (LFM) model is, on average, 0.5 to 1.5 RE inward of the actual magnetopause position due to inadequate pressure in the LFM inner magnetosphere. Since predicted inner magnetosphere pressure may vary with spatial resolution or with different ionospheric models, in this paper we examine the magnetopause location using different spatial resolutions and ionospheric models within the LFM. We present both statistical and single-event analyses of these different versions of the LFM, utilizing Cluster spacecraft observations from times of low geomagnetic activity for our single-event analysis and a series of empirical magnetopause models for our statistical analysis.
