We will show trapped ion spectra as a function of equatorial position during a geomagnetic storm that began on April 17, 2002, peaked on the 20th and extended at least through the 22nd . The spectra extend from 1 keV to 40 keV and are obtained by inversions of energetic neutral atom images from MENA and HENA onboard the IMAGE satellite. The inversion of the neutral atom images includes charge exchange processes with both the hydrogen geocorona and low altitude neutral oxygen. The Tsyganenko 2004 magnetic field model, the MSIS90 exosphere model, and the Ostgaard geocorona model are employed in this process. As verification of the inversion process, the spectra are shown to be in good agreement with Cluster data. The spectra show a low energy Maxwellian-like component and a flat tail above approximately 15-20 keV. The ring current appears more symmetrical at low energies with peaks on the night side for higher energies. Integrating over the energy spectra, we show temperature, density, and pressure as a function of equatorial position. It is the density that shows the strongest spatial variation.
