We report on the main belt asteroids observed by MSX in the course of its long scan astronomy survey observations. Using orbital elements for 26791 asteroids, we have identified 332 sightings (928 observations) of 169 different asteroids in the MSX data, 20 of which (known as singletons) were observed only once in a single band. Of the 169 different asteroids, 31 (including 6 singletons) were not previously observed by IRAS. The derived diameters and albedos are on the IRAS system (IRAS Minor Planet Survey (IMPS), 1992, edited by Tedesco, E.F. [Phillips Laboratory Technical Report No. PL-TR-92-2049. Hanscom Air Force Base, MA] - available from S.D. Price). We describe creation of the MSX Infrared Minor Planet Survey (MIMPS) data set and compare it with SIMPS (Tedesco et al, 2002, AJ, submitted), the successor to IMPS. The work reported herein was made possible by contract F19628-98-C-0032 from the US Air Force Research Laboratory (EFT) and grant AST 9973057 from the National Science Foundation (EFT).
