The vertical distribution of O(+)/n sub e in the 130-200 km region of the upper atmosphere in conditions of ionization-recombination equilibrium is examined. The invariant property of this distribution is found which is independent of time, place, and heliogeophysical conditions for a given season. The dependence on season is associated with variations of the composition of the neutral atmosphere. Available mass-spectroscopy data on the ion composition confirm the existence of this invariance, which can be useful for refining parameters of neutral-atmosphere models.
