It is shown how, in a new version of the inflationary universe, one is able to obtain a reasonable value for the density fluctuation δρρ and, at the same time, preserve the virtues of the inflationary scenario. The essential ingredient here is the existence of an effective linear term in the Higgs field which arises as a consequence of a coupling with new, heavy fermions. These new fermions get a large, dynamical mass by pairing and condensing at a scale much larger than the Hawking temperature. Specific examples are given for SU(5).
