Photographic BV-photometry has been carried out for about 180 stars in the central region (r ≤ 1arcmin.3) of M13. Two methods were used to take into account background influence: Weaver's formula and the method of the background compensation by wedge. The second of these methods proves to be the better one. Obtained color-magnitude diagram and luminosity function for the red giant branch have been compared with data of other authors. As a result some particularities of star distribution on the red giant branch and horizontal branch are found. The question concerning the quantity of UV-bright stars in M13 is discussed.
