A method is proposed for the investigation of the lower ionosphere using measurements of the artificial glow from trace constituents excited by electrons accelerated by high-power radio waves. This technique makes it possible to spectroscopically determine the concentration of emitting trace constituents in the ionosphere and to measure the effective temperature of electrons in the disturbed region of the lower ionosphere. The main spectral lines suitable for the observation of artificial glow in the lower ionosphere are indicated. Calculations are presented of the glow intensities of NO, OH, and Na at heights of 90-100 km as a function of the strength of the radio-wave field at a frequency of 8.48 MHz.
