A method is proposed for studying the behavior of linear and angular shock absorbers that absorb the energy of the relative motion of two space vehicles immediately after docking. In this method, the problem of analyzing a system consisting of 18 differential equations and 6 coupling equations is reduced to the analysis of the shock absorbers' deformation equations alone. This makes it possible to analize the work of the damping (shock absorbing) system without studying the docking process. The two-dimensional case is studied in detail, and the two-dimensional characteristics are analyzed for various vehicle parameter and docking mechanism combinations.
