Some ionospheric effects produced by the electrodynamic interaction of the E and F layers are analyzed. It is shown that a change in E-layer conductivity leads to a change in plasma concentration in the F layer, and vice versa. In the presence of an increased-conductivity band in the E layer, an increase or decrease in plasma density may occur, depending on the orientation of this band with respect to the external electric field in the F layer.
