The principal factors influencing the transformation of the spectrum of cosmic rays along their path from the sun to the earth are the propagation of accelerated particles in the solar corona and in interplanetary space and the passage of solar cosmic rays through the earth's magnetosphere. An attempt is made to develop a self-consistent pattern of the transformation of the solar cosmic ray spectrum, taking these factors into consideration. Particular attention is given to cosmic ray protons with energies above 1 MeV.
