An attempt is made to establish the kinds of equations obeyed by solar pulsations, and to illustrate the coupling of nonradial pulsations and convections with the simple case of an unstable and semiinfinite polytrope. The unstable polytrope possess an adiabatic problem, taking as its starting point the surface of the star and the assumption that there is no viscosity or thermal conductivity. Attention is given to a nonlinear problem in which an inhomogeneity appears through the coupling coefficients.
