The charged particle spectrometer E8 onboard Helios A and B is
described. The experiment covers proton energies from 80 keV to 6 MeV,
electron energies from 20 keV to 2 MeV, and positron energies from 150
to 550 keV. Flight performance is discussed, and selected examples are
used to demonstrate the instrument's properties.
