The P-Cygni star HDE 316285 is probably a heavily reddened single star
undergoing mass-loss, rather than a symbiotic system. The infrared
continuum is from the Rayleigh-Jeans tail of a high-temperature source
plus emission from a hot plasma. The 1.2 - 4.1-μm spectrum shows
strong emission lines, mainly of H I and He I.
