The pure rotation spectrum of hydrogen sulfide was investigated between 50 and 320/cm using a Fourier transform spectrometer at an apodized resolution of 0.005/cm. High resolution and a good signal-to-noise ratio were obtained which results in a significant improvement in the accuracy of the wavenumbers of the rotational transitions of the three isotopic species (H-32)2S, (H-33)2S, and (H-34)2S that were observed in natural abundance. These rotational transitions and the available microwave data were analyzed using the least squares fit technique in order to determine the precise rotational constants for each isotopic species. These constants were also employed in order to calculate precisely the absorption of natural hydrogen sulfide in the far-infrared region of the spectrum.
