An analysis of photonic events with missing energy is presented, using data collected at √ {s} = 189 GeV with the OPAL detector at LEP. New-physics searches are performed which have applicability to several models, including supersymmetry, compositeness, and a special class of string theories that postulate additional space dimensions. Standard Model measurements are performed as well; these include cross-section measurements as well as a measurement of the number of light neutrino species and the level of charged-current interactions.
