A WKB asymptotic method is used to obtain a solution to the kinematic problem concerning the generation of the large-scale geomagnetic field. The turbulent-dynamo generation of the mean field due to differential rotation and helicity is considered. The solution obtained yields a natural explanation for the small inclination of the dipole component of the geomagnetic field and the westward drift of magnetic irregularities (the first nonaxisymmetric field modes).
