Magnetic Cataclysmic Variables (polars) are ideal physical laboratories for the study of magnetically-controlled accretion; yet the source of the soft x-rays arising from such systems is not well correlated with the system's magnetic geometry and cyclotron emission. We propose to use QQ Vul as a test object to obtain simultaneous hard/soft x-ray, optical and polarimetric observations, in order to address the long-standing debate on whether the soft x-rays and/or optical emission in polars can trace the magnetic field configuration or not.
