We propose a 200 ks observation of the ``prototype'' narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxy I Zw 1. Such an exposure will allow us to use the high S/N RGS spectrum to look for high and low ionization lines of C, N and O and their correlation with the UV spectrum. We will also make a detailed study of the (expected) strong UTA feature due to iron M-shell lines. The MOS-PN observations will allow a time-dependent study of the 0.3-10 keV continuum including a detailed search for soft low-energy excess, unusual iron-K features and relativistic soft X-ray lines. I Zw 1 is ideal for such a study because of its high luminosity, large X-ray flux and high metallicity.
