OH maser line emission at 1720 MHz is a powerful shock diagnostic; it is collisionally pumped by H2 molecules where C-type supernova shocks drive into adjacent molecular clouds. Recently it was proposed that X-ray photodissociation in SNR masers is responsible for enhancing the OH abundance behind the C-type shock fronts. We propose to examine in detail the nature of X-ray emission from SNR G357.7+0.3 which is associated with remarkable extended OH(1720 MHz) maser emission. G357.7+0.3, like SNR W28, shows a strong interaction with the adjacent molecular cloud based on maser observations. An XMM-Newton observation of G357.7+0.3 will test the model that X-rays are responsible for enhancing the production of OH molecule.
