The structure of low-power radio galaxies is thought to be determined largely by interactions with the group atmosphere in which these objects typically reside. Detailed observations of these atmospheres can answer long-standing questions about physical conditions in radio galaxies, their dynamics and evolution. Our XMM GO observations of two such objects provide strong evidence for the influence of environment on radio-lobe structure, illustrating that XMM's high sensitivity to large-scale X-ray emission is ideally suited to this work. We propose to continue this observational programme by observing three more well-studied twin-jet sources, enlarging our sample to include examples of all typical FR-I radio-lobe morphologies.
