In AO1 we were awarded a 30 ks Priority A observation of the soft X-ray transient XTE J0421+56 in quiescence. Due to intervals of high particle background only 12 ks of good observing time was obtained. However, the spectrum was sufficiently interesting that we were awarded a 60 ks Priority A observation in AO-2. Unfortunately, this observation was again severely affected by intervals of high particle background and only 16 ks of good observing time were obtained! We are therefore requesting a repeat of the 60 ks XMM-Newton observation in order to fulfill the original scientific requirements.
