Deep images of a high galactic latitute random field will be obtained to provide a reference point for studies of galaxy evolution and cosmology. The program will provide multi-wavelength data of unprecedented depth on morphology and spectral energy distribution of faint field galaxies. The images will be made public shortly after they are obtained and will be used, for example, to constrain the mass function of stars in the Galactic halo, to constrain the redshift distribution and epoch of formation of galaxies, to study the extragalactic background light, and to search for weak lensing.
