We propose to observe 5 fields along the NE spiral arm region of NGC224 (M31) with the WFPC-2 using the F160BW, F336W, F439W, and F555W filters to obtain high quality color-magnitude diagrams of the sites of recent star formation. With the high resolution and far UV image capabilities of HST, we will be able to detect the main sequence down to M_V ~ 0.0, and make useful determinations of the temperatures of even the hottest stars. These data will allow us to study the global pattern of the star formation and explore the current descriptions of star formation processes. We will also be able to study the variations of the IMF from location to location along the spiral arm. Finally, these data will be vital for efforts to improve the calibration of the far UV color to temperature calibration for M31.
