Gravitational Deflection, Mercury: Relativistic Effects, Brans-Dicke Theory: Cosmology

Scientific paper

The authors investigate the perihelion precession of Mercury, the deflection of light and the radar echo in the context of the generalized Brans-Dicke theory with a coupling constant β. The experiments establish limits of β2 ≤ 0.002, β2 ≤ 0.004 and β2 ≤ 0.001, respectively. They also find that the motion of a photon deviates from the trajectory ds2 = 0.
