Recent observations suggest that new classes of objects such as soft-gamma repeaters (SGRs) and anomalous X-ray pulsars (AXPs) have very strong magnetic fields. Motivated by this observational situation, we formulate magnetic deformation of relativistic stars based on a perturbation theory. The ellipticity is estimated for some stellar models, and compared with that arising from rotational flattening. Some astrophysical remarks for these results are discussed.
