With the recent release of the BOOMERanG and MAXIMA-I data on the angular power spectrum of the Cosmic Microwave Background, it has been argued that topological defects models are by now ruled out. In this talk, based on the article1 astro-ph/0005022, we have shown that these data are consistent with a sizeable contribution of incoherent source that we examplify with the case of global cosmic strings.
