The circulating laser power is a major parameter in the design of interferometric graviational wave detectors. It will be limited by thermal effects due to absorption of light in optical elements [1,2,3] in advanced receivers. It has been proposed to use reflection gratings instead of transmissive optics in order to eleminate the absorption within the optical substrates [4,5].
