The optical geometry can be used as an elegant tool to visualize certain aspects of the null geodesic structure of spherically symmetric static spacetimes. In this talk we discuss the existence of stellar configurations with optical geometries having multiple necks. Such a structure corresponds to gravitational perturbation potentials with multiple wells. Specifically, a model with two layers of constant density is considered and shown to exhibit two necks in the optical geometry.
