Quantum properties of open quantum systems admit a stochastic description via Langevin-type equations. We show how this treatment can be applied to study linear perturbations in the context of inflationary cosmological models. The formalism can be extended, in principle, to treat the inflaton field exactly whereas only the gravitational perturbations are considered perturbatively, which is closer to the spirit of semiclassical gravity.
