We calculate the vacuum stress far from a uniformly accelerated infinite plane for the massless scalar field in n dimensional spacetime. The effect of the acceleration reduces the stress by an amount corresponding to black body radiation if n is even. If n is odd, however, the Planck distribution of black body radiation is replaced by the Fermi distribution. We correlate the results to those for the Dirac and the electromagnetic fields in four dimensions as well as to the detector response function, and note a relation among sipin, statistics and dimension.
