Scientific paper
The papers presented in this volume provide an overview of recent developments in imaging photon-counting systems, image intensifiers, and charge-coupled devices. Topics discussed include interpolative centroiding in CCD-based image photon-counting systems, performance and reliability of third-generation image intensifiers, a proximity-focused image intensifier for astronomy, and a 512 channel parallel-output detector. Papers are also presented on the prototype MOSAIC detector; design and performance of the High-Resolution Spectrograph sensor subsystem, and Reticon detector electronics for the Halley Multicolor Camera on the Giotto space mission.
