IRAS observations of the galactic stars of spectral type later than F0 and with bolometric absolute magnitudes brighter than -8.0 have been added to the published ground-based photometry to search for thermal re-emission from dust resulting from mass loss. Only the stars cooler than early G exhibit substantial dust signatures among the objects in the present sample. The size of the 10-micron excess appears to be linked to the amount of general thermal re-emission.
