The electron-cyclotron interaction, and the whistler mode waves-counterstreaming electron interaction are studied. The relationship between electron pitch angle and electron precipitation is examined. The following topics in recent literature are treated: (1) waves of finite bandwidth, (2) nonfield-aligned wave normals, (3) wave induced electron precipitation, and (4) thermal filamentation of the pump waves and excitation of lower hybrid waves.
