Saturn Atmosphere:Lightnings
Scientific paper
A survey of the existing observational evidence and theoretical ideas about lightning on Saturn is given. The expected water and ice cloud layer in the 15 - 20 bar region is a suitable medium, especially by analogy with Jupiter where lightning has been unequivocally observed. The Saturn electrostatic discharges observed by Voyager are most naturally explained as due to lightning.
