Three-Body Problem: Stability

Scientific paper

The known classical three-body problem is considered with account of small resisting force which is opposite to the absolute velocity. It is shown that this force has double effect: first of all, it causes a displacement of triangular points, secondly, the characteristic exponents vary. The second effect is more important as it is connected with solution of stability problem. According to resistance law the instability is possible as well as asymptotic stability. In particular, a region of asymptotic stability was constructed for some laws of resistance. Here the medium of varying density is considered. In the parameter space the regions of asymptotic stability and unstability are constructed.
