A stationary cylindrically symmetric solution of Einstein's equations is given for a perfect fluid in rigid body rotation about a regular axis. The fluid has the equation of state 0264-9381/13/2/016/img1 with pressure p and density 0264-9381/13/2/016/img2 finite and steadily decreasing to zero as the radial coordinate 0264-9381/13/2/016/img3. The spacetime is free of singularities and of Petrov type I.
