During A02/3 we found more than a dozen Black Hole X-ray Novae (BHXN) in M31 using Chandra, and with HST (WF/PC2) found several optical counterparts. We propose to continue this program, with the goals of understanding the relative number of black hole vs. neutron star (NS) X-ray binaries in the M31 bulge and the duty cycles of the BHXN. The GTO program will share the observing time burden with the GO program equally, with 25ks coming from each. The results from the AO2/3 program suggest either a surprisingly high ratio of BH to NS binaries, or a surprisingly high duty cycle for the BHXN. Continued observations can place interesting constraints on the duty cycle. The WF/PC2 was only able find the brightest of the optical counterparts, the new ACS will allow us to go 2 mags deeper.
