The mechanism for solar wind formation is studied in order to analyze the observations in the corona and solar wind, and the observations are compared to experimental data. The experimental conditions for examining the expansion of a collisional plasma into a vacuum are described. The forces, thermal pressure and Alfven wave pressure, that ensure an acceleration of the solar wind plasma are discussed; the dependence of the proton temperature on the plasma velocity and distance is studied. The effects of the divergence of the magnetic field lines of coronal holes on the solar wind plasma outflow velocity are analyzed. It is noted that the divergence emanating from the coronal holes controls the magnitude of the solar wind velocity.
