It is shown that the separation constant not related to isometries that appears in the solution of the spin-0264-9381/13/11/024/img2 perturbations of the Carter A solution, can be defined in an invariant way as the eigenvalue of a certain differential operator made out of a two-index Killing spinor. Furthermore, when the electromagnetic field of the background spacetime is absent, we obtain analogous results for gravitational perturbations.
