A method that uses existing large-aperture optical telescopes for high-resolution IR solar imaging is presented. The technique, which involves the use of a mask before the telescope entrance aperture, well matches the resolution of a nonredundant array, provides safe operation of a large telescope for solar observations, and has relatively low cost. The reduction in collected flux due to the mask can be overcome by choosing the right diameter for the plates in order to minimize the amount of radiation reaching the primary mirror and maximize the amount of flux collected.
