The Chryse Planitia region of Mars includes several outflow channels
that debouched into a single basin. Here we evaluate possible volumes
and areal extents of standing bodies of water that collected in the
northern lowland plains, based on evidence provided by topography,
fluvial relations, and channel chronology and geomorphology.
