The high degree of sharpness of the knee in the cosmic ray energy
spectrum favors for a single source origin of the knee. In the present
work we explore the possibility that the knee is caused by a nearby
pulsar. We also examine the candidature of the Geminga and the Vela
pulsars as the single source of the knee.
