Many potential binary companions to nearby stars are found in the 2MASS survey, but most of them are chance projections. The status of 45 companion candidates within 30 arcsec from a carefully selected large sample of nearby solar-type dwarfs (including many targets of exo-planet search) will be determined by a 2-nd epoch imagery at the 1.3-m telescope. This is a continuation of the successful program carried out in 2010A which has increased the number of known visual companions by 55% (47 discoveries, including 15 new triples) and enabled a robust estimate of the companion fraction and mass-ratio distribution in the separation range from 500 to 1000 AU. However, only part of the sky was covered in 2010A. The aim of this project is to contribute to the multiplicity statistics in the full range of periods (complementing radial velocities and adaptive optics) and to provide reference data for the binary-formation theories.
