The rate coefficient for the radiative association of ground-state nitrogen and oxygen atoms to form nitric oxide is calculated as a function of the temperature T. The rate coefficient is given by alpha(T) = 2.8(300/T) exp 0.5 x 10 to the -17th cu cm/sec. Detailed predictions are presented for the emission spectra accompanying the radiative association process. The widths of the emission profiles vary significantly with temperature.
