Scientific paper

A summary of the sightings of 41 separate comets in 1984 is presented. The observations included 13 comets detected in 1983, two from 1982 sightings, one of 1980, and four annual objects. The principal investigators, locations and times of the sightings are identified. Some discussion of the procedures and observational sequences employed to confirm the sightings is provided.
