It has been shown that the intensity of solar proton events (SPE)
decreases with solar longitude. In the present paper, a formula is
derived for the coefficient of the solar-longitude-related decrease of
SPE intensity. The validity of this formula is demonstrated using SPE
data for 1967-1972 where the proton energies ranged from 20 to 80 MeV.
